About Dr. Lawson
Dr. Lawson is the founder and medical director
of Proactive Wellness Centers, PLC of Vienna Virginia.
Proactive is an anti-aging specialty practice that focuses
on hormone imbalances, weight management and therapies
to enhance wellness and longevity. Dr. Lawson received
her Doctorate from Oklahoma State University College of
Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1983 and practiced
anesthesia for 19 years in Michigan prior to her recent
relocation to Northern Virginia. As a result of being
directly involved with thousands of surgical procedures,
Dr. Lawson became very knowledgeable about chronic disease
and began to diligently focus on how she could best serve
patients by not just diagnosing and treating disease,
but by implementing strategies that focus on disease prevention
and wellness.
During the last eight years of her anesthesia
career, Dr. Lawson was the chief anesthesiologist at an
outpatient plastic surgery facility. This exposure to
aesthetics medicine placed her in a position of apprenticeship
where she learned many of the aesthetics procedures such
as laser and IPL treatments, sclerotherapy, BOTOX®
and dermal fillers. She subsequently has completed advanced
training for all of these aesthetics procedures. Dr. Lawson
truly understands that often times the skin is a mirror
of what is happening on the inside of our bodies.
Dr. Lawson is a board-certified anesthesiologist
and diplomate in Anti-Aging/Regenerative Medicine with
the American Board of Anti-Aging Regenerative Medicine
(ABAARM). She is also a member of the American Academy
of Anti-Aging Medicine. and has completed a fellowship
in Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine. The fellowship
program emphasizes a thorough competency in the areas
of nutrition, fitness, stress reduction, bio-identical
hormone replacement and even spirituality as a necessary
basis for optimal health. Fellows obtain a rigorous understanding
of the biochemistry and physiology of chronic disease.
Additionally, Dr. Lawson is an avid researcher of emerging
scientifically-validated treatment protocols.
